Time to brag about the air conditioning
Looks hot outside. I’ll use my phone to remotely check the temperature in the car…
Wow. Let’s start the air conditioning. By the time I get to the car, it should be fine… And it was.
42km = 7.5kWh = 52.5 cents
52.5 cents is what it’s costing me to drive to work and come back home every day.
Pretty impressive right? Keep in mind that I was not using the air conditioning nor the heating system. Not bad if you think about it some more, 52.5 cents to move a 4,647 lb (2,108 kg) vehicle for 42km.
Half of the commute is on highway, the other half is stop and go in downtown Ottawa.

Battery warranty
I keep on getting that question from time to time: “You battery warranty garanties you with a 80% capacity in 8 years.” What happens if in 12 years you battery pack completely dies?”
No one can predict the future, but I am pretty sure in 12 years, the battery pack will be cheaper and more efficient. Not sure how true this recent article is, but the very near future of aluminium air battery sounds extremely promising:

Longest drive with the whole family
For my birthday gift, my mom installed at her place in Sherbrooke, a NEMA 14-50 electrical outlet.
We decided to go non-stop from Gatineau to Sherbrooke at a cruising speed of 105km/h. On a full charge we made it but on the last few kilometers, I slowed down a little because the rated range was getting quite low. As I entered into the garage I got a popup saying something like “With the current temperature, we highly recommend charging the car… now”
This is amazing, the whole family in the car with all the luggage and we made it without any problems with lithium batteries non stop! This car really amazes me.
Needless to say that this was the quietest ride to Sherbrooke I ever had, except for the kids complaining that they wanted to stop in between to get a bite 🙂
This is the only electric car that exists on the market today that can go that far on a single charge.
First long ride back home
On a beautiful Sunday (March 17) afternoon I drove 224 km at a cruising speed of 115km/h from Boucherville to Gatineau with a stop at Wendover. I gave two “demo” rides to the in-laws, to demonstrate the torque of this baby.
Once in Gatineau, I still had another 65 km rated range.

After taking the delivery on the first day, we stopped at this public parking to grab a very good burger at the Snobinard.
